Buffy the Vampire Slayer Corebook
Reviews Comments Gary Sherwood: First off, I just need to say what an incredible job you folks did with the BTVS RPG. It's quite literally everything I was hoping. The sturdy hardcover, the beautiful photos, the plethora of quotes -- hell, a Buffy fan should buy this even if they're not into gaming. I've run three sessions so far (the scenario in the book, plus two of my own) and the system work beautifully. The last game I ran with two old gamers like myself who've played just about every system there is, and they were floored. One had never even watched Buffy, yet he was able to play Angel and Willow with equal alacrity, based on just a quick briefing from me (a huge Buffy fan) and looking over the character sheets. I love this game as much as the show (and that's saying a lot). I'll definitely be first in line (or rather on-line) to buy the Angel RPG next year. Emily Poole: I have been gaming since, dear lord, 1982, and have never before been moved to read a rules book from cover to cover. I believe that you have captured the spirit and essence of the show, not only in the flow of the game but in your writing as well. That's no mean feat, and I congratulate you and thank you whole heartedly. David "Zahir" Blue: I just wanted to drop you folks a line about the "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" role-playing game. Myself, although I enjoy role-playing, I'm one of those people who finds most game mechanics a serious impediment. Your UNISYSTEM, on the other hand, is nicely straightforward, virtually seamless IMO to actual play. * * * May I also compliment you on the actual writing of the core book? I've actually been reading portions aloud to my fiancee! Both informative and genuinely funny! Rob new Director for a Buffy RPG: [T]he book is WONDERFUL in general, and I'd LOVE to know who was responsible for selecting the quotes to head each section. 99.9% of them are perfect and dead-on, and give me at least a chuckle, if not a belly laugh remembering the scene. It also gives a great example of the skill or situation the book lists. Kudos for that. Tom Idleman: I'm an RPG Dinosaur . . . I've played it all for over 25 years . . . from D&D in the little white box and Call of Cthulhu to Deadlands and Unknown Armies . . . Throughout all those years of game collecting and playing, I have never purchased an RPG product as well-designed, on theme, *and* entertaining as the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Corebook. It is literally the only RPG book I've ever read word for word, cover to cover . . . well, at least since the little 70's D&D pamphlets. Bring on more slayage supplements!
Dave "who never thought he'd find himself
thinking this" Blewer: For a long time
I was unsure that BtVS RPG could do anything that Feng Shui hadn't
already done, to be perfectly honest. But, now that I have
bought and read the book, I stand (sit?) very corrected. Buffy
is the best adaptation of a source genre I have seen since Feng Shui
and in many ways does an even better job of reflecting its genre . . .
